This jewlery box has a story behind it...
The Christmas of 2002 Michael and I were feeling very poor! We were building our first house, I was expecting our first child and I had just quit my job. So we decided we would give eachother a very modest Christmas.
Around the same time, Michael's Dad came back from a business trip with some really cool orange wood. In the Rimington Men Tradition they turned his recent acquisition into something absolutely stunning! Using a combination of the orange tree wood, purple heart and cherry they made jewlery boxes for Tammy and myself.
I have a picture of my (then unfinished) box under the tree in 2002. Now for my birthday...in 2010, I have a picture of my beautiful and completed jewlery box. Better late than never, right? I love it honey, it's gorgeous...now if I only had some jewlery to put in it. :) If you know me well, you know why I don't.
What made Michael F i n a l l y finish it? Well, he has several wood projects in mind, but I reminded him he doesn't get to start any of them, until my jewlery box was finished. Yay!
Now, bring on the shed, Aaron's captain's bed, and of course the girls' jewlery boxes! As if he wasn't busy enough...oh well. Hopefully the girls won't have to wait as long as their Mother did.
Just kidding Babe, it was worth the wait! ;)
